Captaining Wales and Manchester City youth squads, future prospect 20-year-old Mathew Smith becomes the latest addition to Lee Bowyer's side after joining the club in the January 2020 transfer window.
Born in Redditch, Smith started at West Bromwich Albion's youth setup before joining the Manchester City youth academy at the age of 14.
The defensive midfielder got his taste of first team football away from Manchester City during a season-long loan spell at Dutch Eereste Divisie (Second Division) side F.C. Twente last season. While with the Tukkers, Smith managed a total of 37 appearances and scored twice for the club during the spell.
He then joined Queens Park Rangers in the summer of the 2019/20 season, making 10 appearances in all competitions for the team before joining the Addicks during the 2020 January transfer window.
After his impressive display during his time as captain of both Manchester City and Wales youth squads, Mathew gained his first international cap representing Wales at the age of 18.
Lee Bowyer will be hoping to unlock some of the youngsters potential while he is in SE7.
